COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A former LPD staff member who sued the city began her role as community outreach director at CenterPointe on Jan. 8, and her appointment is expected to boost local community engagement. KNOP
- ➤ Local anchor Nathan Brennan will return to 10/11 News on Jan. 22 to co-anchor the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. broadcasts and provide streaming updates on the 1011 NOW app for Lincoln viewers. He previously worked on morning newscasts and in Kansas City and is eager to reconnect with his hometown audience. KOLN
- ➤ Larry the Cable Guy, a Nebraska native, will host the 15th annual Git-R-Done Golf Classic in Lincoln May 31–June 1. The two-day charity event will feature a gala on Memorial Stadium (with tailgate dinner, auctions, and comedy) and a celebrity golf tournament to raise funds for children and veterans. KOLN
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Labor reported that statewide unemployment increased from 2.8% in September to 3% in November 2025. Lancaster County’s rate rose from 2.7% to 2.9% while the national unemployment moved from 4.3% to 4.6%. KFOR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Business leaders and state lawmakers gathered at the State Capitol on Jan. 8 to back Legislative Bill 304, which would extend current child care eligibility levels that help nearly 3,000 families + keep employers fully staffed as the raised income eligibility expires in October. - ➤ The Nebraska Board of Regents delayed its vote on the $800M deal to let the University of Nebraska buy Clarkson Regional Health’s stake in Nebraska Medicine, rescheduling the meeting to next Thursday — after state senators urged more public review. Nebraska Medicine has voiced concerns over losing control of its strategy. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska volleyball icon John Cook will talk with the Supernovas on Thursday, Oct. 11 about his new role as co-owner and general manager; the team (15 players including two former Huskers) will play the San Diego Mojo at 7 p.m. at CHI Health Center in Omaha. KOLN
