- ➤ Capital Humane Society installed Lincoln’s first 24/7 microchip station on Jan. 9 to give pet owners round-the-clock access to microchipping services. The new station is now available to residents to enhance pet care in the community. KNOP
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NCTA recognized 78 students for academic excellence this semester at its Curtis campus; 23 earned a perfect 4.00 GPA on the Dean’s List and 55 made the Honor Roll with GPAs between 3.50 and 3.99. Most honorees come from local communities as well as other states. Fox Nebraska

- ➤ Lincoln County law enforcement was recognized on January 9 for their quiet acts of courage during Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The annual event celebrated the ongoing service of local officers in Lincoln. KNOP
- ➤ Lincoln Parks and Recreation announced that a portion of Superior Street Trail near North 33rd Street is closed for utility work by Lincoln Electric System — the work is set to finish by the end of January, and trail users should use the north side sidewalk with alternate access via signaled crosswalks at Industrial Avenue or North 33rd Street. - ➤ Mike Cassling and Dana Bradford of Strengthening Nebraska for Families sent a 12-page letter to state senators urging a shift in property tax relief so that growth measures can boost jobs and wages to help keep young talent in Nebraska. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Former Husker Jordan Larson announced Friday that this will be her final season as a professional volleyball player. The Olympic medalist and LOVB Nebraska co-owner said she will retire after this season, ending a celebrated career played close to home. Fox Nebraska
