  • Lincoln’s Hub Café celebrated 10 years on Monday as it honored its farm-to-table roots by sourcing local ingredients, hosting farmers markets, and staging open mic nights to nurture community ties, with owner Jake Thiessen crediting local art and partnerships for the café’s success.  KOLN

  • A fire burned the Log Cabin Sawmill woodworking shop and the owners remain hopeful they will rebuild.  KNOP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lincoln Airport launched its LNK Runway 18/36 Project on Monday and began a two-year rebuild of its 12,901 ft runway to improve safety and reliability while keeping service for passengers + airlines, the military and general aviation, and retaining the current length for the Nebraska National Guard.  Nebraska Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent NHA survey shows that 55% of hospitals expect a challenging fiscal outlook for 2025 (nearly one-third reported negative margins in the last quarter). Hospital leaders warn that Medicaid cuts could impact patient care.  KNOP
  • Former Nebraska senator Ben Sasse updated his terminal pancreatic cancer battle on social media, noting his stage-four diagnosis came just before Christmas and that he has begun experimental chemotherapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.  KOLN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nebraska women's basketball moved up one spot in the AP Top 25 poll Monday by reaching No. 24 after a loss to UCLA dropped their record to 14-3 overall, and the Huskers will play Michigan State at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.  KNOP
  • Former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola announced Monday his commitment to the University of Oregon by sharing photos inside Autzen Stadium on social media. He completed 181 passes out of 250 for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns in nine games before a Nov. 1 season-ending injury.  KNOP
  • The Nebraska Men’s Basketball team is now ranked No. 8 in the AP Top 25 and No. 10 in the Coaches poll after winning at Indiana on Saturday (its highest ranking ever). The achievement marks the Huskers’ return to the top 10 since the 2018–19 season.  KFOR
