- ➤ Nebraska families can register their future Husker for the Husker Athletics Baby Race during halftime of the University of Nebraska men's game versus Penn State at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday, Feb. 21 (six babies at crawling stage are eligible) with entries accepted online until Feb. 12. - ➤ Crewdson Creations at The Log Cabin will rebuild after a fire damaged the historic space; officials said repairs will begin soon to restore the creative venue for the community. KNOP
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, Lincoln Fire and Rescue added 14 recruits as their 18-week training ended at the ceremony hall. The badge event honored 10 firefighters + 4 single role paramedics, and further recruitment training will begin in February. KOLN
- ➤ Charlie Couch, a fifth-grader from Meadows Elementary, was sworn in as the state’s first kid governor on Jan. 13 at the Capitol Rotunda with nearly 100 people watching. - ➤ Wes Wilmot, a fifth-generation Nebraskan from Beaver City, announced his candidacy for Nebraska's District 38 legislative seat after filing paperwork Friday with the Secretary of State's office.
