CULTURE NEWS

  • Shoppers browsed 35+ booths offering locally made gifts at Cupid’s Arrow Market in downtown Lincoln on Feb. 7. The market highlighted local talent for Valentine’s Day shoppers.  KNOP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Katherine S. Ankerson was approved by the UNL Board as interim chancellor on Feb. 6 to lead the campus after Rodney Bennett’s departure (she previously served as executive vice chancellor). UNL President Gold said she is the right leader to guide the campus forward.  KFOR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Lincoln senator introduced a bill that would remove the 16,000-seat cap at Pinnacle Bank Arena, a change that may let more fans attend Husker games and major events. Lawmakers will review the proposal in the coming weeks.  Lincoln Journal Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • The No. 9 Nebraska Cornhuskers ended a two-game losing streak with an 80-68 win over the Scarlet Knights on Saturday in Piscataway as Rienk Mast led with 26 points + Sam Hoiberg also reached double figures. They now prepare to face No. 12 Purdue Tuesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  Nebraska Now
  • The Huskers lost 78-60 to Maryland at Pinnacle Bank Arena Saturday afternoon, leaving the record at 16-8 overall and 5-8 in the Big Ten. The team will face Minnesota in Minneapolis on Thursday at 7 p.m. on the Big Ten network.  Nebraska Now
  • The Nebraska men's gymnastics team held a moment of silence to honor Husker legend Jim Hartung ahead of its home opener at the Devaney Center Saturday. Fans received posters and athletes wore patches to remember his legacy.  KOLN
  • Maryland defeated Nebraska 78-60 at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon, with Logan Nissley scoring a career-high 22 points from six three-pointers and helping control the possession game. The Huskers now stand at 16-8 and will face Minnesota in a Big Ten road game at 7 p.m. (CT).  KNOP
