EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Lincoln Board of Education approved a $19.5M bid from Scheele-Kayton Construction to build a 47,000 sqft Student Support Facility at Yankee Hill. The new facility (serving students needing behavioral or special education support) is scheduled to complete by July 2027. KOLN
- ➤ University of Nebraska-Lincoln has launched its eighth annual Glow Big Red campaign to support scholarships, athletics, and campus programs. Campus landmarks are lit in red from noon Wednesday until noon today as alumni, faculty, and students donate (witnessing a collective effort for UNL's future). KOLN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy and Environment awarded Lincoln over $1.5 million from statewide grants to fund recycling education, hazardous waste management, and community cleanup projects. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn canceled his fundraising event in Washington, D.C. set for Tuesday when questions about co-host Dana Chasin's alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein arose. The nonpartisan campaign said the cancellation was made immediately after the concerns were reported. Nebraska Examiner
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department and Lincoln Transportation and Utilities test wastewater every three days for measles and other disease signals — their samples are sent to a San Francisco lab for analysis, with results arriving in three to five business days to help local doctors detect early symptoms. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska’s spring football game will kick off at 11 a.m. on March 28, and tickets go on sale Feb. 19—donors begin pre-sale at 9 a.m. while the public sale starts at noon on huskers.com. Baseball and softball games are set for 2 p.m. at Haymarket Park and Bowlin Stadium. KFOR
- ➤ On Feb. 10, Omaha Skutt beat Norris 55-52 at Norris Middle School gym as the three-time defending state champion rallied in the fourth quarter (thanks to key plays from Carter Wissink) to notch their 14th straight win. KFOR
- ➤ On Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Huskers overcame a 22-point deficit to force overtime against No. 13 Purdue but fell 80-77 after late free throws sealed the loss at home. Nebraska now prepares for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 14, hosting Northwestern during Alumni Weekend. KFOR
- ➤ The NSAA released the 2026 and 2027 football schedules for Nebraska high schools, marking a change for LPS as all eight join Class A. Lincoln Northwest and Lincoln Standing Bear moved up from Class B, and kickoff times will be posted later on school websites + conference updates. KFOR
