- ➤ Lincoln pastor John Harris remembered Rev. Jesse Jackson, who died Tuesday at age 84 after a long illness, for his civil rights work and role as a hostage negotiator; Harris recalled his stirring message (red, yellow, black, brown, white, all precious in God’s sight) that called for unity. - ➤ John Mulaney will perform at Lincoln’s Pinewood Bowl Theater this summer with a special guest joining him on Friday, Aug. 21. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday. KOLN

- ➤ Southbound 48th Street between Holdrege and Dudley closes today for water main repairs — one lane will reopen Friday while northbound work continues until Feb. 25 before the project completes on Feb. 27. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Nebraska officials announced the new InterRAI assessment (a state tool) is lowering funding tiers for hundreds with developmental disabilities, risking thousands in lost support for caregivers like Lincoln’s Abby Woods. More than 200 complaints have been filed as assessments continue. KNOP

- ➤ Local wrestlers (including competitors from North Platte, McCook, and Lexington) advanced to the NSAA Girls State Wrestling semifinals with 2 wins and no losses; several will face top-seeded opponents (such as Leah Hazen and Alexis Steinbeck) today in Omaha. KNOP
- ➤ The No. 9 Huskers men’s basketball team is set to play the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Tuesday evening with tipoff shortly after 8:00 p.m. The Huskers are coming off a strong win over Northwestern. KOLN
- ➤ Former Olympian and UNL professor Curt Tomasevicz uses his champion skills to guide the US bobsled and skeleton team in Cortina, Italy; he is setting up training and helping design sleds (his input aims at improving speed and control) as the teams get ready to race this Friday and Saturday.
