BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Todd Bingham resigned last week from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry; board chair Pat Keenan said during Wednesday's meeting that the chamber is now searching for a new president and chief executive officer. Bingham had started his role in mid-May after his appointment in April 2025. KNOP
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Animal Control removed 102 cats from a Lincoln home last month after an inspection on Jan. 30 found several code violations, and the resident now faces six citations (for issues including a limit on cats, sanitation, and rabies vaccination) that could lead to fines and further penalties. KOLN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Public Schools announced Wednesday that Gary Czapla will be the new principal at Northwest High School. He served as the founding principal at Moore Middle School and will begin his new duties on July 1. KOLN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local service providers are alarmed as new InterRAI assessments have moved some people with developmental disabilities into lower funding tiers, risking reduced supervision and care. Since July, 17 percent of assessments dropped a tier, officials said, sparking concerns over future safety and community inclusion (affecting support for individuals like Dalton). KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln Transportation and Utilities closed southbound North 48th Street between Holdrege and Dudley for water main repairs starting Wednesday, with one lane reopening Friday and work expected to finish by Feb. 27 (detour via Holdrege, 56th, Vine). KOLN

- ➤ On Feb. 17, prep basketball games wrapped up with Millard North beating Lincoln Southeast 68 to 65 in a boys contest and Lincoln North Star defeating Lincoln Pius X 43 to 38 in a girls match, with other schools also posting scores from regional games. KFOR
