- ➤ Skate City Kansas (via Jon Ingrum) proposed that Lincoln be considered for a new rink after a market analysis named it a top prospective location; local officials are now reviewing the plan. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ The Trinket Trade Box offers Lincoln residents a fun way to exchange unique knickknacks near the corner of Lewis Avenue and Hartley Street. Owner Sarah Cronin (founder) said the box is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on warm days. KOLN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln will host First Friday art events, an LSO concert, and a Furry Fiesta fundraiser (featuring pet activities and community art displays) at neighborhood venues. Residents are invited to enjoy a local celebration of art and music. Lincoln Journal Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln High School updated its entryway flags to represent the home country of each student by adding flags from 50 nations. Principal Mark Larson said the change is designed to help students feel welcome. KOLN
- ➤ Voters in Norris and Waverly will decide on school bond issues this spring, with Norris proposing a $34.8 million bond and Waverly a $64 million bond to support school improvements. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ Yesterday (Feb. 28), the Nebraska School Activities Association released the pairings for the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Lincoln. Teams will compete soon in the state event. KFOR
- ➤ Pryce Sandfort scored 32 points as Nebraska beat USC 82 to 67 Saturday in Los Angeles. Braden Frager added 17 and Rienk Mast 11 points (helping the Huskers, now 25 to 4, stay strong) as they prepare to face UCLA Tuesday at 10 p.m. KFOR
- ➤ Nebraska beat No. 7 Auburn 9-8 in 10 innings at Plainsman Park on Friday night after Jesske hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning; the teams will play again Saturday at 2 p.m. on SEC Network. KFOR
- ➤ Nebraska women’s basketball won 93-52 over Rutgers on Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena; Britt Prince nearly achieved a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
