CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lied Center announced the 2026-2027 Glenn Korff Broadway Series featuring Hamilton, Shucked, Water for Elephants, Clue and a fifth show — revealed in May. Season packages start at $249, with renewals now for subscribers and new packages on March 9 at 11:00 a.m. online.  KNOP
  • Nebraska was admitted as the 37th state on March 1, 1867 after Congress overrode President Andrew Johnson's veto of its statehood bill. This act made Nebraska the only state to join the Union over a presidential veto.  KNOP

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck south-central Nebraska Sunday afternoon and was felt in Lincoln. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded it at 12:59 p.m. (3 miles east of Cowles) with no damage reported.  KFOR
  • USGS reported three earthquakes were felt across areas including Cowles, Beaver Crossing & Lincoln on Sunday, with a 4.1 magnitude quake recorded at 12:59 p.m. and two 2.6 magnitude quakes later in the day.  KOLN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lincoln High Junior Colin Farr repeated as the Class A State Boys Diving champion last Thursday (Feb. 26) after scoring 505 to break Mark Stiner’s 1972 record, and he shared the podium with his brother Owen, who placed second. Farr credits coach Reynaldo Castro for guiding his success.  Nebraska Now
