- ➤ The Food Bank of Lincoln resumed its Lincoln Fresh program on Monday when a truck at the Calvert Recreation Center distributed free fruits and vegetables (program started in 2019 and provided 223,000 pounds last year). KOLN
- ➤ Fire Department Coffee selected Lincoln Fire and Rescue as its March Fire Department Club of the Month; subscribers receive a limited-edition blend while $2 per order supports firefighter health programs. KOLN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The lightbulb sculpture outside Humann Elementary School near 40th Street and Pine Lake Road was restored after vandals destroyed it on June 6, 2025, and the piece is part of the Illuminating Lincoln project celebrating The Lighthouse program’s 35-year legacy. KOLN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Visit Nebraska has unveiled the stops for the annual Passport program from May 1 through Sept. 30. The challenge invites residents and visitors to collect stamps at 70 stops—organized into 10 themed tours—and earn prizes, with the kickoff party held at Lincoln’s Museum of American Speed on May 1. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UNL researchers used state-of-the-art eye-tracking to see which spider features trigger fear by measuring 118 undergrads' eye movements during image tests, and the findings may guide future mental health treatments + conservation efforts. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln Public Schools students achieved a perfect 36 on the ACT on Monday; the five students from Lincoln East and Lincoln High received a plaque from the University of Nebraska System and now qualify for the Presidential Scholars Program, which offers a full ride + $5,000 annual stipend. KOLN

- ➤ Today, Lincoln marks one year of its Co-Responder Program (a team of mental health professionals with police) that has handled 366 calls and helped 75% of people avoid further emergency response. City officials say the program, funded with a $550,000 grant and matching city funds, has improved crisis outcomes. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska’s men’s basketball team moved up to No. 9 in the AP poll after an 82-67 win at USC and will play UCLA tonight at 10 p.m. CT on FS1. KFOR
