  • Cat Connection, a partnership between Lincoln Goodwill and Capital Humane Society, opened Tuesday downtown to let residents schedule playdates with adoptable cats in a home-like setting using décor from Goodwill while some cats were rescued last month.  KOLN

  • Showcase Nebraska Home Edition recently featured Granite Garage Floors (a company that applies industrial-grade coatings) as they turn concrete garages into durable, attractive home extensions trusted by Nebraska homeowners.  Nebraska Now
  • Sam Hoiberg has partnered with local restaurant Muchachos to launch the new 'Hoibergler' sandwich. Muchachos owner Nick Maestas announced yesterday on social media that the sandwich is a toasted bolillo (with hatch chile bbq, pulled pork, queso and fried onion) meant to excite local fans at lunchtime.  Nebraska Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, a portion of O Street is set to close overnight for signal replacement, and drivers are advised to use alternate routes during the work.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Families of individuals with developmental disabilities in Lincoln urged Nebraska officials to pause the interRAI system after evaluations reduced needed funding. Advocates cited 237 appeals filed since July 1, 2025 (none successful) and spoke at a public meeting while officials review complaints and adjust training.  Fox Nebraska

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department is offering free at-home colon cancer screening kits for residents ages 45 to 74 until April 30 during Colon Cancer Awareness Month to help detect the disease early. Kits are available at various Lincoln sites, and residents may request one online or by calling (402-441-8045).  Fox Nebraska

SPORTS NEWS

  • The NSAA Boys Basketball Championship is in progress with Wednesday matchups featuring teams like Omaha Westside vs Lincoln High and Lincoln Southwest vs Millard North. The tournament runs from March 11 to March 14, with finals at Pinnacle Bank Arena + updated scores available throughout the day.  KNOP
  • Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule said the team will stay low-key ahead of the Red vs. White scrimmage on March 28. The squad is past half of spring drills and will break for spring break next week & aims to improve daily.  KNOP
  • Eighteen Nebraska Husker football players are set to pursue arbitration after the College Sports Commission rejected their name, image and likeness deals valued at over $1M. The arbitrator will decide if the players must return funds already received (details about the players and deals have not yet been released).  KOLN
