  • Lincoln Crime Stoppers are asking the public for tips to identify suspects in two cases — a Feb. 13 hit-and-run where a late 90s GMC Sierra struck a parked car near Southwest 30th and West A and a March 14 vandalism at the Sharp Building when a person in a denim jacket broke an exterior glass door after hours.  KOLN
  • A 73-year-old Lancaster County woman lost $10,000 after falling for a fake Apple Support alert — which claimed foreign hackers were behind a child exploitation ring — and withdrew cash for a Bitcoin ATM deposit before contacting law enforcement, officials said.  KOLN
  • A Lincoln man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a 37-year-old man with a snow shovel at about 3 p.m. on Monday outside Wally’s Tobacco and Vape on O St.—the victim sustained injuries to his head and right eye.  KOLN
  • Early Monday at 4:30 a.m., a woman in Lincoln called 911 after a man she knew held her hostage and assaulted her for three hours near 47th and South streets—officers later arrested 35-year-old Carl Miller, who faces charges for assault by strangulation or suffocation, third-degree domestic assault causing bodily injury, and second-degree false imprisonment with a court hearing set for April 22 at 10 a.m.  KOLN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Past and present Nebraska theater teachers asked the State Board of Education to change Rule 24 so future theater teachers can earn a full endorsement without leaving the state—supporting a simple language change that may boost enrollment and address local shortages.   • Lincoln Public Schools and the YMCA reached a nearly $1.5M agreement to share the Standing Bear athletic complex at the high school — the partnership will give the YMCA access to the facility and help complete the ongoing project.  Lincoln Journal Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nebraska lawmakers are prioritizing bills that would help sexual assault survivors sue schools for treatment costs and ease filing for protection orders for domestic violence, while proposals to lower the age for adult charges and alter minimum wage rules for youth face contention with key votes pending. Lawmakers will debate these measures next week—decisions that may shape policy for Nebraskans.  KOLN
  • U.S. lawmakers passed a stopgap funding bill this month that cut more than $100 million in federal earmarks for Nebraska projects (including funds for airport upgrades, water systems, and local public safety).
