EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pius X hosted International Day with interactive maps + crafts and global performances that celebrated its students' diverse heritage. The school event showcased traditional food and clothing while students shared their culture through dance and displays.  KOLN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Pillen and NDVA Director Hilgert honored Vietnam War veterans at a ceremony held Friday, Mar. 28 at the State Capitol. The governor signed a proclamation declaring Mar. 29 (Vietnam War Veterans Day) statewide.  KFOR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Carl Bouges, who survived a heart attack while dancing at Cappy's Bar & Grill on Saturday, met with his lifesaving group including retired nurse April Barker as dozens surprised him with a commemorative shirt; he later returned to dancing just four weeks after his triple bypass surgery.  Nebraska Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Nebraska football team will host the Spring Game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 11, featuring a scrimmage that marks the debut of newcomers such as quarterback Anthony Colandrea (broadcast at 6 and 10 p.m.).  KNOP
  • Nebraska officials explained the Spring Game rules and TV broadcast details. The game, scheduled to air at 11 a.m. on the Big Ten Network, will feature standard scoring with 15-minute quarters and a 10-minute halftime, and teams will wear red for offense and white for defense.  KNOP
  • Nebraska will host its spring game on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Memorial Stadium as newcomers, including quarterback Anthony Colandrea, make their debut in the Red vs. White scrimmage.  KOLN
  • Dylan Carey homered and drove in five runs on Saturday as Nebraska rallied with a seven-run seventh inning for a 12-7 win over Indiana at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park (the Huskers clinched the series and will play again tomorrow afternoon).  KNOP
