Good morning, Lincoln. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 3rd of April.

CRIME NEWS

  • Lincoln police arrested Jesse McIntire, 35, and Krysta McIntire, 31, on Tuesday for crimes spanning three months including the use of stolen Menards rebates in February, a burglary at a motorcycle dealership on March 16, and theft from a parked truck—both face charges for theft, forgery and more with next hearings set for May 7.  KOLN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 1, local World War II veterans 101-year-old Jay Cawley and 99-year-old Clare Sward were honored at The Grand Lodge by Gov. Jim Pillen for their service when they received the 'Celebrating 80 Years of Victory' medal in a special ceremony.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Lincoln voters will decide on April 8 whether to renew a quarter-cent sales tax that funds street improvements for eight years and generates about $18 million a year. Business groups like the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce support renewal while some residents say current funds are enough—if voters reject the measure, the program will end in September.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Lawmakers reversed Gov. Pillen’s recommendation to cut $14.3 million from NU’s budget next year after deep federal funding losses left the university tracking about $178 million in lost grants — they discussed a 1.25% increase in state aid that would add roughly $8.7 million while postponing a vote to gather more details.  Lincoln Journal Star
