  • Downtown gyro shops share a long family legacy that began decades ago and now spark friendly competition as Sultan’s Kite expands with two new spots while Pita & Naan adds fresh curry dishes.   • Christ Lincoln hosts a public Good Friday Cross Walk today from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. along a 10-mile route starting near 43rd and Sumner and passing Normal Boulevard, the Capitol, downtown, the Haymarket, Railyard district, O Street and Lied Center, ending with a service at 7 p.m.  KFOR

  • UNL students pitched business ideas in a Shark Tank style competition for a $100K prize, with 18 teams presenting at an on-campus event. The competition showcased student innovation (a boost for local entrepreneurship).  Lincoln Journal Star

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • PlantNebraska has launched the Disaster Recovery Fund to provide free trees to homeowners hit by the 2026 wildfires and other natural disasters statewide (aiming to reverse the rapid tree canopy loss).  KOLN

  • Gov. Pillen lifted the statewide burn ban Thursday, but Eagle Fire & Rescue is holding off on issuing burn permits due to low moisture and high winds — conditions officials expect to persist.  KNOP

  • No. 4 Nebraska will host the Big Ten Championships at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Friday, April 3, with team and all-around competitions, and Saturday will feature individual event finals. Top teams including Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Illinois will compete in the meet.  KNOP
