  • The Nebraska Farm Bureau Disaster Relief Fund is accepting applications from farm and ranch families affected by spring wildfires. Eligible applicants may receive up to $5,000 per household as donations help cover repairs to pastureland, fencing, and infrastructure until funds run out.  KNOP
  • Gray Media Nebraska stations earned the 2026 Service to Community Award for Television from the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation when their streaming special Break the Silence on Domestic Violence aired on Nov. 25, 2025 — the project used anonymous survivor stories and voice actor readings to spark community dialogue.  KNOP

  • Creative Collabs Collective of Nebraska has stepped in to help nine Painted Tree Boutiques vendors who lost their space after the store abruptly closed, offering temporary shelf space in Lincoln.   • The city of Lincoln extended the deadline for the America 250 City Art Poster Project to Wednesday, Apr. 22, inviting youth, amateur, and professional artists to create works that celebrate Lincoln’s past and inspire optimism.   • Holocaust scholars from across the U.S. will gather this week at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to examine how digital tools (including AI) are shaping research and remembrance.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Lincoln Public Schools board will vote later this month on proposed pay raises for administrators and technicians (over 800 employees stand to benefit) as the district reviews its compensation plan.  Lincoln Journal Star

  • Barron Miles, a Nebraska Football Hall of Famer, and his family are seeking funds as his daughter Ava faces rare gastroparesis complications and must return to Cleveland for surgery after insurance denied coverage. SPORTS NEWS

  • Tuesday's Heartland tournament opening round had Lincoln North Star beat Norfolk 11 to 3 and Kearney win 14 to 1 over Lincoln High; quarterfinals are set for Wednesday while the Eastern Midlands tournament closed with Elkhorn edging Lincoln Northwest 4 to 3 in a close contest.  KFOR
  • Nebraska baseball won a 5-4 contest against Creighton Tuesday night at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park, featuring Drew Grego’s homer and three RBI in front of 6,148 fans. The Huskers will host USC for a three-game series Friday at 6:02 p.m.  KFOR
  • Nebraska men’s basketball senior guard Sam Hoiberg was named a first-team Academic All-American on Tuesday, Apr. 14 after leading the Huskers to a record 28-7 season and their first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. He is the first Husker honored since Shavon Shields in 2015.  KFOR
