  • Nebraska State Patrol investigators arrested three inmates on May 31 for attacking correctional staff at Lincoln’s Reception and Treatment Center using manufactured weapons—Eric Ramirez, John Meyers, and Jonathan Gonzalez Salas—and five workers were severely injured while they now face charges including attempted first-degree murder.  KOLN
  • Lincoln Police are seeking a pair of burglars who broke into an apartment clubhouse on March 21 and again on March 29, stealing packages and office equipment—while also looking for the driver of a maroon Chevy Silverado that hit a vehicle on April 13 and left the scene.  KOLN
  • An 83-year-old Lincoln woman lost over $14K in a smishing scam when scammers falsely warned of a fraudulent charge and told her to send money through a Bitcoin ATM — police said on Monday.  KOLN
  • A 31-year-old driver who fatally struck a 62-year-old man near Sun Valley Boulevard and West O Street last summer was found guilty on Thursday after pleading no contest to three felonies—reckless motor vehicle homicide and two counts of possession of a controlled substance—with her sentencing set for June 30 at 1:30 p.m.  KOLN

  • Lawmakers approved school retirement and tax incentive changes Wednesday to reduce Nebraska's projected deficit by $136 million. The measures, LB 650 and LB 645, will trim business incentives and adjust pension contributions based on funding levels while saving $187.24 million over the next two-year cycle.  Nebraska Examiner
