A Lincoln lawmaker pushed to raise survivors' benefits for Nebraska State Patrol troopers from 75% to 100% and ignited a dispute among legislative allies when an amendment delayed the change due to cost concerns.

The measure passed with a vote of 45 to 2, and lawmakers said they will continue working on the change & help support families of fallen troopers.

Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen reminded Lincoln voters that early vote ballots must be obtained or cast by Monday and all ballots must be dropped off by 8 p.m. on Election Day at designated drop boxes—polling locations will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and acceptable photo ID is required.
