- ➤ Dale Miksch, a hospice resident with ALS at Grace Space, fulfilled his final wish on May 3 by joining a 10-mile bike ride organized by Lincoln cyclists — a group that included support with a modified pedicab for his ride along Van Dorn Street. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ The Lincoln Police Department kept Sunday's Lincoln Marathon safe by placing officers along the route and having some join the race in uniform. Jason Drager finished in one hour, 59 minutes and Julia Sandman, running with her son, completed the marathon in 3 hours, 47 minutes — with about 7,000 runners taking part overall. KOLN

- ➤ On Saturday, Lincoln Fire and Rescue fought a garage fire at a home in the Capitol Beach neighborhood near Northwest 8th and West S streets around 11:15 a.m.—crews used water to keep the fire contained to the detached garage, which is now a total loss while investigators focus on the cause with no injuries reported. - ➤ A Lincoln man suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder and neck after being shot around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday near South Third & H streets, and police said his injuries are not life-threatening as they investigate. KOLN

- ➤ A Lincoln lawmaker pushed to raise survivors' benefits for Nebraska State Patrol troopers from 75% to 100% and ignited a dispute among legislative allies when an amendment delayed the change due to cost concerns. The measure passed with a vote of 45 to 2, and lawmakers said they will continue working on the change & help support families of fallen troopers. Nebraska Examiner
- ➤ Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen reminded Lincoln voters that early vote ballots must be obtained or cast by Monday and all ballots must be dropped off by 8 p.m. on Election Day at designated drop boxes—polling locations will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and acceptable photo ID is required.
