- ➤ Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers escalated his opposition to LB 677 on May 7, warning that the bill to regulate voter-approved medical cannabis would open a pathway to recreational marijuana and heighten public safety risks — he was joined by more than a dozen law enforcement officials. Lawmakers and supporters, who argue that the bill is necessary to safely implement cannabis laws, say it may be scheduled for debate after the state budget passes by May 15. Nebraska Examiner
