  • Lincoln Southeast High School’s class of 1965 has gathered this weekend for their final reunion as over 75 former classmates toured Robber’s Cave and shared memories from decades past. The alumni also plan visits to local landmarks and a buffet of favorite foods—marking their seventh reunion event.  Lincoln Journal Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Nebraska—Lincoln will award about 3,700 degrees at commencement ceremonies at Pinnacle Bank Arena starting May 16 when a graduate ceremony begins at 3 p.m.; bachelor ceremonies will follow on May 17 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. on May 16 and 7:30 a.m. on May 17.  Lincoln Journal Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced that parts of two streets will close during the week of May 12 for repair work. Eastbound Adams Street between North 42nd and North 44th will close Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work, and Park Boulevard will close Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.+Drivers are advised to use detours.  KOLN
  • Families testified at public forums in La Vista, Omaha and Lincoln on May 3-5 to urge lawmakers to pass LB 677, a proposal that would clarify Nebraska’s voter-approved medical cannabis program and boost access for patients like 7-year-old Teddy Bronson who suffers from severe epilepsy. Lawmakers and opponents debated the new rules (which include restrictions on smoking and a fixed list of qualifying conditions) as they weighed safety concerns against patient needs.  KNOP
