- ➤ Early Tuesday morning, a Ford sedan crossed into the opposite lane on Highway 79 near West Bluff Road and hit a semitrailer north of Lincoln, killing the driver as Highway 79 remains closed between West Bluff and West Waverly Roads. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Authorities identified Thomas Heath, 61, as the man killed in a crash east of Lincoln that occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday on O Street near 162nd Street when his Ford Focus drifted into the opposite lane and collided with an SUV, whose driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene. - ➤ An 18-year-old Nebraska wrestler, Colin McAlister, was arrested at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday when UNL police responded to a report of someone trying to set a dorm door on fire in a residence hall; he has been dismissed from the wrestling team and his hearing is set for June 5 in Lancaster County Court. - ➤ Micheal Cornejo (29), a Michigan man who shot at a north Lincoln hotel last year, was sentenced to 18 to 26 years in prison, a term that is cut in half by Nebraska’s good time law and came as part of a plea deal that dropped four additional felony charges. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Country singer Rodney Atkins will perform at the Ice Box in Lincoln on Friday, June 20 at 8 p.m.—the hockey arena and home of the Lincoln Stars will host an intimate summer country concert with the Drew Phillips Band opening the show. Nebraska Now

- ➤ The American Job Center will host an outdoor career fair on May 23 from 9 a.m. to noon on the sixth floor of the parking garage above its center at 1330 N St.—attendees can park for free at the Park & Go garage at 14th and N streets by entering their license plate number at the kiosks and will have the chance to meet employers like the State of Nebraska and Lincoln Electric System. - ➤ Jon Oberg, a former state agency director, has threatened a lawsuit if a governor-backed plan proceeds to transfer $15 million from the Environmental Trust to cover a budget gap, arguing the funds should support conservation projects. The state budget bills will shift the money over the next two years and face a final vote on Thursday — a move Oberg says could permanently change the trust’s purpose. KOLN
