ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Dillion Kamm, 23, lost control of his pickup near North 84th Street and Davey Road Friday night while driving with three passengers from Ulysses and was ejected, leaving one front-seat passenger with a broken hand and two back-seat passengers with minor injuries; he was critically injured and flown to the hospital after a day of fishing and drinking in Seward & Lancaster County. - ➤ A 77-year-old (James Hedrick) died over a month after his SUV collided with another vehicle near North 17th and P streets that caused his car to hit a post; police said an autopsy will determine his cause of death and the investigation is ongoing. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Lincoln Southwest High School graduates Ava Spinar and Drew Snyder were accepted to Harvard Medical School—a program with a 3% acceptance rate. Snyder will start on campus this fall while Spinar will join Harvard after completing her master’s degree at Oxford. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ Nebraska lawmakers have only 10 days left in the 2025 session to act on 106 priority bills, with just 10 still waiting in committees. They will use the remaining time—until June 9—to finalize the state budget and decide on key votes before the session closes. Nebraska Examiner
- ➤ Nebraska lawmakers upheld Gov Pillen’s veto that blocked LB 319 from lifting the food aid ban on some with drug convictions—leaving about 1,000 people affected. The decision means that the current SNAP benefits restrictions will remain in place even after bipartisan votes to change them. Nebraska Examiner

- ➤ Nebraska Community Blood Bank is asking eligible blood donors to book appointments from May 21 to May 28 to help meet the expected rise in trauma cases over the summer—donors will receive branded wet—dry bags, and local groups are urged to host blood drives to meet hospital needs. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska softball pitcher and utility player Jordyn Bahl was named a top three finalist for the USA Softball/ESPN Collegiate Player of the Year on Monday—making her the first Husker to earn this honor—and she joins finalists Bri Ellis from Arkansas and NiJaree Canady from Texas Tech. KNOP
- ➤ Nebraska softball star Jordyn Bahl was named one of the top three finalists for the USA Softball/ESPN Collegiate Player of the Year award, joining Arkansas' Bri Ellis and Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady and marking the first time a Husker has earned this honor.
