  • Give to Lincoln Day raised over $8.7 million for nearly 500 local nonprofits from May 1 to May 28 and ended with a nonprofit festival at Tower.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Lincoln officials today unveiled a new three-year Age-Friendly Community Action Plan that builds on the city's 2024 AARP designation; the plan focuses on transportation + housing + access to information to support over 58,000 older residents.  KOLN
  • Lucas Ramirez, 14-year-old, credits CEDARS for giving him a place to belong as the nonprofit aids about 2,500 Nebraska kids yearly on Give to Lincoln Day. CEDARS helped him recover from a bike crash, secure a job and get an apartment while he serves as a youth advocate.  KOLN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kwik Trip, a top-rated convenience store chain from Wisconsin, is exploring locations in Nebraska for Kwik Star outlets while completing early due diligence with no timeline set yet. The company is assessing market needs & potential sites before making its next move.  KOLN
  • Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip is planning to expand into Nebraska — it has not chosen any sites or set a timeline yet. The family-owned chain will operate under the Kwik Star name as it works through its early planning process.  KNOP

CULTURE NEWS

  • More than 60 homeschooled students and their friends are performing The Lion King in a south Lincoln backyard today, inviting local residents to enjoy a free show.  Lincoln Journal Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nebraska’s Huskers are hosting their first NCAA Baseball Regional since 2008 today at Haymarket Park. The team will begin their contest against South Dakota State at 3 p.m. following practice sessions and media interviews.  KNOP
  • Nebraska volleyball's 2026 schedule was released by the Big Ten, showing a 17-match round-robin season starting Friday, Sept. 25 with a home match against Rutgers and ending Tuesday, Nov. 17 ahead of the Big Ten Tournament. Match times and TV coverage are TBD.  KOLN
  • Nebraska volleyball announced its 2026 schedule featuring 28 matches including nine against teams ranked among the top 25. The season begins with an exhibition in Arlington (Aug. 27) and an official opener in Las Vegas (Aug. 29), with home matches starting Sept. 10 at Bob Devaney Center.  Nebraska Now
  • Senior captain Ava Kuszak hit a game-winning two run home run in the 10th inning to secure a 5-3 win over Arkansas at Devon Park today. Nebraska now advances in the Women’s College World Series and will face No. 1 Alabama Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN.  Nebraska Now
