- ➤ Lincoln Public Schools held the Extra Mile Walk in February, March, and April, raising $411,801—$211,801 from schools and $200,000 from Acklie Charitable Foundation—to support Food Bank of Lincoln programs that provide meals for families facing food insecurity. Fox Nebraska
- ➤ Food Bank of Lincoln led the 15th Give to Lincoln Day on May 29 by raising $497,000, ahead of CEDARS and Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach, with nearly 28,000 donations totaling about $10.7-million; participating nonprofits will share a $650,000 match fund from LCF (including West Gate Bank sponsorship). Dele Davies (priority candidate for permanent chancellor) visited Lincoln on Friday during his statewide tour to discuss improving health care access by placing students in rural rotations and tackling workforce shortages. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska baseball defeated South Dakota State 4-1 in the first game of the Lincoln Regional on Friday (the Huskers scored first in the fourth inning) and fans celebrated the win. Locals now expect a battle in Saturday’s game and call for more community support. KOLN
