GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USDA announced payment rates for its $1.625 billion Specialty Crops Farmers program to help producers facing rising costs, with Login.gov applications having begun on June 1 and in-person enrollment set to start on June 8 at local Farm Service Agency offices; the enrollment period closes Aug. 7.  Fox Nebraska
  • Molly Mayhew of Lincoln said she faced long on-hold calls navigating new Medicaid work rules that began May 1, as Nebraska DHHS reported only a small workload increase and nearly 60% compliance among new applicants.  KNOP

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nebraska's softball season ended with a 3-1 loss to Texas in an elimination game at the NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City on May 31; pitcher Jordy Frahm kept a no-hitter until the sixth inning as the Huskers tied a program record with 52 wins.  KFOR
  • Nebraska softball star Jordy Frahm announced on Monday night on social media that she is three months pregnant after the Huskers fell 3-1 to Texas in the WCWS, and she expects Baby Frahm in December + her standout season saw award-winning play both at the plate and on the mound.  Nebraska Now
