ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday morning near 48th and Nebraska Parkway under heavy rain conditions—at least one person was taken to the hospital as southbound traffic was rerouted westbound.  KOLN

CRIME NEWS

  • Auston Dormer, 30, was sentenced to about 50 years in prison for sexually abusing two 8-year-old girls in Lincoln — he will face lifetime community supervision and must register as a sex offender when released.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • The Nebraska State Patrol removed 80 suspected impaired drivers during the Make It Click campaign, which ran from May 12 through June 1 (troopers also issued 122 citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations).  KOLN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lincoln Public Schools will hold two interview days to fill nearly 80 open positions such as bus drivers & paraeducators, food service workers, manager trainees, head bakers, head cooks and custodians. The first event is on Friday from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Scott Middle School and the second is on July 15 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at North Star High School, and candidates must bring a complete application with required documents like an email address & Social Security number.  Lincoln Journal Star

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • HazToGo, the hazardous waste center near north 48th and Superior, now offers extended Wednesday hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through August+ the drive-through site accepts household chemicals including vape products. It also operates on the third Saturday each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.+ Lincoln and Lancaster County residents can drop off waste safely at no cost.  KOLN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley said his team uncovered alleged misuse of public funds in eight local governments—citing extra payments, missing money and questionable reimbursements. One official from Farnam was found guilty on May 13 and will be sentenced on July 3 as local financial practices come under closer scrutiny.  KNOP

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is installing vending machines with free supplies — including Narcan, fentanyl testing strips, first aid kits, feminine hygiene kits, and pregnancy tests — at five locations in Nebraska and one in Sioux City, Iowa to reduce harm and provide discreet help. The Tribe will soon add culturally significant items and plans to expand outdoor access for 24-hour support.  Nebraska Now
