  • On June 13, three volunteer winners were honored at the Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Awards luncheon in Lincoln — Tom Mills received the Living Legacy Award, Keenan Cain earned the Humble Servant Award, and Audrey Watson received the first Cathy Blythe Caring Heart Award. Each award comes with funds to donate to local nonprofits selected by the winners.  KFOR

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded to a shooting on the 1100 block of Hill Street at approximately 5:38 a.m. today, where they found a 14-year-old boy shot in the buttocks and calf and a 15-year-old boy who was taken to a hospital by private citizens, with the 15-year-old in life-threatening condition — investigators are interviewing several persons of interest.  Fox Nebraska
  • Lincoln Police found a missing local woman with dementia early Friday morning after she wandered from the area of Russ’s Market at 33rd Street and Nebraska Parkway at 8 p.m. Thursday—she returned home safely and the department thanked the public for assistance.  Nebraska Now

  • Former State Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks announced her 2026 run for the Nebraska Legislature after the current officeholder said she would not seek reelection. Brooks said she will continue her work on juvenile justice, workers' rights, and public education + her campaign has received bipartisan endorsements.  Nebraska Examiner
  • Former Lincoln Senator Patty Pansing Brooks announced her candidacy for the Legislature in District 28 yesterday after Senator Jane Raybould opted not to run for re-election. She secured endorsements from over 70 current and former officials and said she will focus on key issues—juvenile justice, human trafficking, workers' rights, public education, and healthcare access if elected.  KFOR
