- ➤ Just after midnight on June 21, Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a fire on the 1800 block of South West 15th street that engulfed a home and resulted in the death of a 36-year-old Lincoln man — three people were evacuated — while the cause is still under investigation. KFOR

- ➤ The Coffee Roaster on Old Cheney Road—celebrating 30 years as a local business—held community events on Saturday with games, food vendors and face paintings while owner Sam Karnes thanked customers for their support. - ➤ Just before 6 p.m. Friday, Lincoln Police and Fire and Rescue responded to a crash at North 56th and Francis when a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber hit a curb and a utility pole—32-year-old Sebastian Flores fled officers but was caught several blocks away after officers recovered a stolen firearm and narcotics, leading to his arrest on multiple charges. - ➤ A Lincoln East graduate recalled feeling intense fear when an intruder with a backpack stepped on stage at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Des Moines on Thursday—causing thousands to flee and leading to a police arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance, even though no weapons were found. - ➤ The general manager of the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District, Mike Sousek, was put on leave due to a personnel matter and Assistant General Manager David Potter took over his duties on Wednesday. - ➤ Marian Fisher, an 80 year old retired teacher, walked six blocks on Friday to Sen. Pete Ricketts' office with a hand drawn sign saying 'SAVE OUR MEDICARE' to protest a bill that would cut Medicaid funds.
