- ➤ The People’s City Mission received approval from the Lincoln Planning Commission to expand its permit boundary and plans to build a 69,000-square-foot shelter for women and children to increase its capacity to 600. PCM expects to begin groundwork this summer+ move to construction next year and complete the project by 2027 to early 2028. KOLN

- ➤ A man aged 42 was arrested Tuesday night after Lincoln police said he pointed a gun at his neighbor and accidentally shot himself in the hip— he faces terroristic threats and firearm possession charges, was treated at a local hospital, and is held on a $150,000 bond with a hearing set for July 23. - ➤ An Illinois man (Jacob Gumm) was arrested by Lancaster County deputies on Wednesday after he pointed his loaded Glock 23 at a semitrailer driver on Highway 77 near Lincoln, and he is now booked on suspicion of terroristic threats. Nebraska Now

- ➤ The Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission met Thursday morning and adopted temporary emergency regulations in a 4-0 vote to meet the July 1 deadline for licensing, allowing businesses to start applying for medical cannabis from Oct. 1. Advocates and pharmacy representatives raised concerns about limits that restrict licenses to 12 per judicial district and location rules for proximity to schools — public comments will be accepted until July 15. - ➤ Today, Nebraska Community Blood Bank calls for blood donors as donations have dropped 33% and hospitals need type O- and B- blood for emergencies — donors may receive a branded t-shirt or packable backpack from June 27 to July 7. The bank will also host the Broadcasters Unite for Life Blood Drive at Havelock United Methodist Church on July 16 and 17 — inviting local groups to help ease the shortage. KOLN
