ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 3,000—pound tree branch fell on a Lincoln home after overnight storms, and homeowner Jayne Beer said she will avoid the house until professionals remove the branch.  Nebraska Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A renewed search for Jerica Hamre, a Nebraska mother missing for over a year, is planned tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Arapahoe City Park and is led by Bring 'em Home Nebraska's private investigator after new cell phone data pointed to an area spanning nearly 900 square miles where she vanished while her parents remain hopeful.  KNOP
  • A civilian Air Force employee from Offutt pleaded guilty Thursday to sharing classified national defense information on an online dating app with someone who claimed to be a woman from Ukraine—he now faces up to 10 years in prison, three years supervised release and a fine up to $250,000.  Nebraska Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced plans for the Music District and unveiled a commemorative plaque at a news conference held outside Zoo Bar (136 N. 14th St.) at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 10, with community representatives and music dignitaries in attendance.  KOLN
  • Gov. Pillen said Nebraska Task Force One is searching for survivors in Texas after the Guadalupe River flooded on July 4 — the 45-member team, including two canine units, has been working in Kerr County with local and state teams and will remain for two weeks.  Nebraska Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • The City of Lincoln started a video series called 6 Pillars for Emotional Wellbeing—A Parent's Guide to help families build routines that support emotional health. The first video on sleep was released on July 10 and new videos will air monthly until November.  KOLN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Six former Husker players, a state college All-American and two longtime contributors will be inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame this fall—adding the first Legend Award for Johnny Rodgers. The induction ceremony is set for Friday, Sept. 12—followed by recognition at Memorial Stadium the next day.  KFOR
  • Nearly 1,000 volunteers supported the 41st annual Cornhusker State Games that began Thursday evening by handling tasks from setup to safety. Brian Larrington—who has volunteered for over 20 years—stated that the games would not survive without unpaid help, with contests starting today at 8:30 a.m. and running through July 20.  KNOP
