- ➤ In Prague the annual Pink Bandana Beat Breast Cancer Mud Volleyball Tournament attracted hundreds despite the village’s population of less than 200—160 teams competed to raise thousands for Nebraska women battling breast cancer. Organizer Jeremy Stanislav said the event honors his grandmother and his late mother while drawing visitors from across Nebraska to support the cause. KOLN

- ➤ Lincoln Public Schools will host its second interview day on Tuesday, July 15 from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. at North Star High School in the Commons and Media Center (5801 N 33rd St.) to fill open positions for bus drivers, paraeducators, food service workers, and custodians; new applicants must complete a pre-event application and bring identification, a social security number, driver’s license, references, and work history to speed up the process. - ➤ The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office announced its participation in a nationwide Speeding Prevention mobilization to reduce speed-related fatalities. The office will add more deputies in marked cruisers starting Monday and running through July 29 — overtime is funded by an NDOT mini grant. Nebraska Now

- ➤ One year after a firework exploded and injured Seward resident Kyleigh Gardiner on July 4, 2024, the 22 year old is still recovering from four surgeries including removal of her right eye and faces daily pain from a poorly fitting prosthetic — further treatments are planned to improve her recovery.
