  • A Runza restaurant will open this fall in the UNL Selleck Hall food court and will begin serving on Aug 18, offering signature sandwiches + classic items like burgers, chicken strips, and fries with mobile ordering and meal plan access; dining staff began training on July 7 to prepare for student move-in week.  KOLN

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities identified 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht—a missing Wisconsin woman—whose body was found in the backseat of a vehicle following a pursuit on Interstate 80 west of Lincoln; suspect 23-year-old Gavin Thompson was arrested early Wednesday and will be arraigned today at 2 p.m. on multiple charges.  Nebraska Now
  • A man accused of severely beating a Lincoln woman two days after she filed a protection order pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree assault and was sentenced to 14 to 16 years in prison — he received 169 days credit for time served.  KOLN

ECONOMY NEWS

  • According to a report from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Nebraska’s agricultural land value fell 2% to $3,935 an acre in 2025 for the first time in six years. Crop farmers face lower crop prices, higher costs, and rising interest rates, and grazing land values stayed up with higher cattle prices — the report shows differences by region and land type.  KNOP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lincoln Transportation and Utilities hosted an open house to gather public feedback on a $6.5 million A street improvement project that will add two through lanes and a middle turn lane, replace a traffic signal at 17th street, and convert the 13th and A intersection into a roundabout. The project—funded with over $5 million from federal sources and local Wheel Tax revenue—will begin late next year and finish in fall with improved safety and traffic capacity.  KOLN
