- ➤ On Saturday the community donated boxes, baskets and blankets to The Hub, a nonprofit serving young adults ages 17–25 transitioning from foster care into independent living. Executive director Rose Hood Buss said the trailer full of donations helped turn an apartment into a home + the organization served about 1,200 individuals this past year. Nebraska Now
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person was taken to the hospital with minor neck pain after two vehicles collided at the intersection of 48th and O streets in east Lincoln just after 12:15 p.m. and southbound 48th Street was closed for a little over an hour for cleanup. Nebraska Now

- ➤ A woman was found dead in the back seat of a car in Lincoln after she was stabbed to death + authorities said the random killing is believed to have happened in Wisconsin. Lincoln Journal Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The UNO Election Commission invalidated all votes for The Torch ticket in a spring election, awarding leadership to Unify UNO even though The Torch had won by 33 votes out of 1,580 cast. The commission said private messages—meant to show Unify UNO as puppets—undermined trust and spurred student resignations and an investigation by the Office of Student Life. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola hosted his first youth football camp at Lincoln Pius X High School on Saturday, where hundreds of kids played football with him and other players such as junior Emmett Johnson and senior Dane Key. - ➤ On Saturday, July 19, skaters gathered at Breslow Ice Arena for the Capital City Figure Skating Competition as 94 competitors from Nebraska and beyond showcased their skills. Faith Crooks earned first place in the senior emotional category with a tribute program for her mother, and Lincoln’s Kim and Bill Marriner demonstrated that it is never too late to learn to skate — proving there is no age limit to figure skating. - ➤ USA Archery announced that Lincoln will host the WIAWIS USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals and the JOAD U.S. Open in 2026 at the Lincoln Sports Foundation—60 of the over 100 acres are maintained fields where the best young archers will compete at the end of July. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Freshman Leo Curtis scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help Iceland win 88 to 67 over Ukraine at the U20 EuroBasket Championships in Heraklion, Greece. His strong play raised his averages to 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 blocks per game— and Iceland will face Germany today at 7:30 a.m. Nebraska Now
