ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Lincoln Police responded to a crash in central Lincoln on Saturday near South 16th and E streets at 12:40 a.m. when an ambulance hit a turning vehicle & two ambulance occupants were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries while the vehicle's sole driver was cited for a suspended license and failure to signal.  KOLN
  • A pregnant woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash near 56th Street and Raymond Road — just east of Branched Oak Lake — and authorities closed both directions of the road for at least an hour as they investigated the incident.  Nebraska Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Thousands attended the Lincoln Renaissance Festival on Saturday at the Outdoor Education Center where people in costumes cheered during jousting and enjoyed turkey legs as the event returned after decades. The festival continues today with medieval shows and vendors — offering families a chance to experience historical food and fun.  Lincoln Journal Star
  • Despite the heat on Saturday, hundreds gathered for a Renaissance faire organized by Midwest Festivals in Lincoln to enjoy live jousting and costumes—today the event continues with food and extra shows for all ages.  KOLN

  • Congressman Mike Flood will hold an in-person town hall on Aug. 4 at Kimball Recital Hall on UNL’s City Campus from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. — doors open at 4:30 p.m. — and he will take questions from Lincoln residents after updating them on local projects.  KFOR
  • The Nebraska Capitol Environs Commission approved the city's plan to remove 29 aging trees along Goodhue Boulevard and replant 131 new trees — 55 along Goodhue this fall and 76 on nearby streets in the spring — after arborists flagged significant decay. Local officials say the decision follows nearly a year of review and input from residents.  Lincoln Journal Star
