- ➤ 14-year-old Lathan Huntley, known as Chicken Dude, showed his 14 chickens and two turkeys at a 4H poultry show at the Lancaster County Super Fair on Thursday after raising birds for seven years. He runs Fluffy Cheek Farms—selling poultry to fund new birds—and he will compete at the Nebraska State Fair later this month and at a state poultry association show in November. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ The new F Street Art Chapel in Lincoln held its first First Friday event this week—an Art Buffet where visitors chose from four art projects including painting pots, making tote bags, crafting friendship bracelets and designing earrings. Director Willow Bernadt said the event brings neighbors together by offering low-cost art classes. KOLN
- ➤ The second annual Human Trafficking Awareness Event was held Friday at the Lincoln Airport terminal where local experts, advocates and law enforcement educated staff on human trafficking myths. The event was part of the airport’s training program (a DHS partnership through the Blue Lightning Initiative) that helps prepare staff to spot trafficking. KFOR

- ➤ A man was arrested Friday after 54-year-old Ronald Burns, who was highly intoxicated, attacked an officer with a mop handle at Pentzer Park near North 27th and Fair streets in north Lincoln — he was treated for a cut on his face and taken to Lancaster County Jail, police said. Nebraska Now
- ➤ A Lincoln woman was sentenced Friday to 25 to 35 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault—her 14-year-old son reported he was abused 25 or more times during a May 31 welfare check, and she must register as a sex offender. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Ahmed Al-Musa, 35, was cited and released on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence after his vehicle struck and killed 44-year-old Jeremy Charginghawk in a north Lincoln parking lot near North 27th and Theresa streets on June 14+ police said he then moved his car. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Attorney General Mike Hilgers filed a lawsuit Friday against Savage Enterprises—a Wyoming cannabinoid company based in California—to stop the sale of synthetic THC products marketed with appealing packaging and youth-targeted imagery. The lawsuit seeks to ban these products in Nebraska and recover penalties after cease and desist letters were sent to smoke and vape shops earlier this year. KNOP
