- ➤ Lincoln police arrested 26-year-old Tyriq McMaryion early Tuesday before 9 a.m. after a 911 call reported that he beat a pregnant woman near South 22nd and C Streets, causing her miscarriage and threatening her with a gun while hiding a stolen handgun in a green backpack; his next court date is Sept. 4. - ➤ Lincoln Pius X High School will start classes on Aug. 19 amid a $29 million construction project that builds a new performing arts center, upgrades athletic facilities, and expands the chapel — though the project removes 80 parking spots, leading community members to rent driveways for students. - ➤ Lincoln Public Schools said 108 students are already identified as homeless before classes start with 40 percent of last school year's 853 homeless students living in shelters — the highest count since the program began in 2005.
