- ➤ Jess Gieseke from the forestry advisory board used painted tree stumps along city sidewalks to start talks on planting and caring for trees after the city removed many old trees, holding a pizza party that drew over 35 residents. The Health Department will soon offer free pregnancy tests via vending machines & expand a school program on proper vape disposal after a pilot collected 106 used vapes over four months. - ➤ The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said that high winds on Saturday at 5:15 a.m. tore most of the roof off two housing units at the state penitentiary in Lincoln — 387 inmates were safely relocated and contractors will begin damage checks on Monday with repairs expected to take at least one month. - ➤ Timpte Inc. moved most of its operations to a new manufacturing center in the Lincoln Airport industrial park in April and is now producing semi-truck trailer tarps, ladders, and other products under its Lincoln Marine brand— the company signed a 25-year lease with plans to expand the center in five years while increasing its workforce from 100 and hiring 20 to 30 new positions. The move comes after selling its previous 5-acre site and investing over $25 million in the new facility plus $8 million in equipment. Lincoln Journal Star
