- ➤ Joesef Barraza was sentenced Thursday to life in prison and an extra sentence ranging from 120 to 150 years for killing Carly Schaaf in 2021 and raping three women — a verdict reached after a jury trial. Nebraska Now
- ➤ A 28-year-old man from Lincoln was sentenced to life in prison — without parole on August 14 after being convicted of first-degree murder and raping three women, including 23-year-old Carly Schaaf who died after being drugged and assaulted at his home. KFOR

- ➤ The City of Lincoln announced Thursday that construction started on a transmission main along 98th Street linking the current water source from the Platte River to a future wellfield at the Missouri River — the project is funded with $36 million from American Rescue Plan Act money and will be completed in 2026 with water flowing from both sources by 2048.
