- ➤ After the Aug. 9 storm that left nearly 35,000 customers without power, LES workers like Trent Anderson worked 16-hour shifts to restore service while families, including the Andersons, managed long separations and changing routines. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday just before 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a garage fire near 31st and Potter in north Lincoln that caused power lines to fall, did not affect the house, and left no injuries as investigators began checking the cause. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Lincoln business TMCO Inc. received city council approval in March to build a child care center at 921 S Sixth St — a site near its manufacturing plant — and the center will open closer to November at about half the regular market rate. - ➤ NDOT and the Pillen administration hosted a signing ceremony on August 15 to honor the 2025 Good Life, Great Journey Scholarship recipients—each student receives full support for tuition, books, fees, housing and a paid NDOT internship as they train in technical fields for future employment; the next scholarship application period will open on Sept. 1.
