- ➤ Lincoln police are searching for an unknown man accused of an attempted robbery and stabbing on Saturday near Lintel Park—after a 33-year-old man reported that around 4 a.m. an individual with a knife demanded money and he stabbed the attacker in the left shoulder before the suspect fled and the victim drove himself to the hospital. - ➤ Timothy Washington, 41, faces trial on charges that include the fatal shooting of Philmoon Kuku and nine other felonies during a February crime spree — he was held without bond after his preliminary hearing on Monday with Judge Thomas Zimmerman and is set for a court appearance on September 17. - ➤ A 24-year-old woman was pistol whipped—robbed of her wallet at McDonald’s late Sunday near 21st and 'K' Street, and police said she bled from her left ear after the suspect fled southbound before officers arrived. KFOR
- ➤ Police are looking for a man involved in an assault at a north Lincoln restaurant over the weekend—witnesses reported that a fight started with punches before the man swung a wooden board and a wheel jack at a 41-year-old victim who was later treated and discharged from the hospital with no serious injuries. - ➤ Lincoln City Libraries announced on Monday that it received a $5,838 AARP Community Challenge grant to expand its Technology Basics Workshops designed to help residents build digital skills. The program will start in September at Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th St.—offering six weekly sessions and 24 one-on-one appointments. KOLN
- ➤ Students began moving in on Monday at UNL, and UNLPD chief Hassan Ramzah said his team is focused on keeping the campus safe for fall classes.
