  • At Lincoln Airport, the Duncan Aviation Car Show took place Sunday despite brief rain and saw over 100 cars compete for trophies— all proceeds went to Make-A-Wish Nebraska to support 3-year-old Peter Campbell's wish to visit Disneyland.  KOLN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police responded to a crash near 48th and R streets in east Lincoln on Sunday at 2:32 p.m.—they are still looking into the scene.  KOLN
  • Police reported that a northbound SUV hit an eastbound motorcycle near North 90th and Adams streets (at 5:25 p.m. on Sunday), killing the motorcyclist while the SUV driver was taken to a local hospital and speed is believed to be a factor.  KOLN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lancaster County officials are investigating why legal fees for defending indigent clients have more than doubled over the past five years—rising from $7.1 million to $11.2 million and straining county budgets. They plan to review case practices and workload standards to find ways to control these costs.  Lincoln Journal Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday afternoon, Nebraska’s top volleyball team beat Stanford 25-13, 25-19, 25-14 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in front of 15,734 fans with Rebekah Allick earning MVP honors — the Huskers will travel to Nashville to play Lipscomb on Friday at 6 p.m. and No.7 Kentucky on Sunday at 11 a.m.  KNOP
  • Lincoln East Spartans are set to hit the field this season and hope to improve from last year's 5-5 record. The team plans to give younger players bigger roles while seniors lead and will start on Thursday at Elkhorn South.  Nebraska Now
  • The top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team swept No. 6 Stanford 3-0 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln Sunday — Nebraska hit at .385 while Stanford managed only .094, and the team will head to Nashville for games against Lipscomb and Kentucky.  Nebraska Now
