- ➤ Two 19-year-old men turned themselves in Monday at the Lancaster County Jail after an assault that occurred on August 15 outside a downtown Lincoln bar near North 16th and O streets — surveillance video shows one man throwing the victim to the ground and another punching him, and hospital care was provided for the injured party. - ➤ Police identified 61-year-old Jeffry Baker as the motorcyclist killed Saturday night when an SUV pulled out of a business near Leighton Avenue on 48th Street in north Lincoln—Baker was not wearing a helmet and died after being taken to a hospital. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Lincoln man Cory Cramm is set for sentencing after pleading no contest to intentionally setting fires that destroyed a vacant home — and a golf course storage shed on opposite sides of town. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced that StarTran will begin running its Big Red Express service for Nebraska football games starting Saturday, Sept.6 — buses will start two hours before kickoff from four locations — with round trip tickets priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children. Riders must purchase tickets in advance via the Token Transit app or at the StarTran office. KOLN
- ➤ Advocates For All Nebraskans launched two petitions on August 25 to cut property taxes by half and cap increases at 3%—one petition requiring about 90,000 signatures for homes, businesses and farms and the other needing around 130,000 signatures to amend the state constitution.
