  • Lincoln Fire Rescue is investigating a suspicious article found near 46th Street and Normal Boulevard in a southeast Lincoln neighborhood—police and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office responded as streets remain blocked during the investigation.  Nebraska Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Thirteen lawmakers have called for a public hearing to review a state-ICE plan to convert Work Ethic Camp — a nearly 200-bed state prison — into a 300-bed detention center that will be reconfigured over the next 45 days. They say the governor did not give proper notice to the public and seek to have constitutional and staffing questions answered.  Nebraska Examiner
  • Justice Lindsey Miller-Lerman, the first woman on Nebraska's highest court, announced her retirement effective Oct. 31—A commission will soon seek nominees for the Douglas County seat and Gov. Pillen will appoint a replacement.  Nebraska Now
