ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Police identified 37-year-old Anthony Miller as the runner struck on 27th Street early Sunday morning when a southbound vehicle swerved to avoid a woman on the roadside — he was taken to a hospital, where he died. Nebraska Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Nebraska Department of Revenue said changes to the federal tax code, known as Big Beautiful Bill, will reduce state tax revenue by about $406.5 million over the next four years—mainly due to higher deductions that lower taxable income for businesses and individuals. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Lancaster County commissioners approved a 2025-26 budget Tuesday that fills a mid-year gap and gives sheriff’s deputies and corrections staff big raises with wage increases of 8% and 9.6%—the general fund will rise to $161.2 million and collect more property tax revenue even as the tax rate drops slightly due to higher property values. - ➤ Throughout September, the Lincoln Police Department is boosting traffic safety in downtown as officers work overtime to check for speeding, distracted driving and blocked intersections—funded by a Nebraska DOT grant. - ➤ Bryan Health announced Tuesday that it is launching new maternal health resources — an online screening tool for postpartum depression and teal wristbands for postpartum patients. The free screening is available online and the wristbands help alert medical staff during follow-up care. KOLN

- ➤ Nebraska Athletics unveiled its new 25,200-square foot multimedia production facility on the second floor of North Stadium—this space houses three 4K/HDR control rooms, a production studio, a Husker Radio Network studio and still photography studios to support live broadcast productions from eight athletic venues. Visitors will get a look inside on October 11 as the facility hosts guided tours. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln is getting ready for the Huskers' first home game on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. as the city shares traffic tips and rules—like the clear bag policy and no alcohol on streets—to help fans reach Memorial Stadium smoothly. KOLN
- ➤ The Nebraska football team will begin its 2025 home season on September 6 against the Akron Zips at Memorial Stadium with new policies in place. Fans must follow strict rules—once they leave they cannot re-enter—and alcohol sales will be available with a two-drink limit while a free pre-game event called Cornhusker Kickoff and upgraded 5G service add to the game-day experience.
