COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Parks and Recreation announced free yoga classes will return this September at the Shildneck Bandshell in Antelope Park from 10 to 11 a.m. starting on Sept. 7 with a different local instructor each week—morning sessions that will include a Lincoln Yoga Day proclamation and surprises. - ➤ The City of Lincoln will upgrade the Belmont neighborhood by adding better lighting, safe walking paths, and a new amphitheater to help connect the area with central Lincoln—officials plan to seek funding after the planning commission meeting. Local residents and community center leaders expect these improvements to meet long-overdue needs. KOLN

- ➤ Lincoln police responded at about 7 a.m. to a trespassing call under the West O Street bridge over Salt Creek — an explosion injured an officer. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ Lincoln man Nathaniel Stephenson, 28, was sentenced Thursday to 11 years and eight months for selling 50 grams or more of pure meth—tested to be at least 93% pure—to an undercover officer in June 2024. Nebraska Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced on Wednesday that the westbound lanes of Pine Lake Road between South 32nd and South 29th closed on Thursday as part of the Lincoln on the Move project—work is expected to finish by early October. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes, including intersections on South 27th Street, to reach local businesses. KOLN

- ➤ ESPN reporter Lauren Sisler visited Lincoln to share her personal story and encourage hope for those fighting addiction after losing her parents to overdoses.
