ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A four-vehicle crash early Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 40th and Duxhall Drive in south Lincoln sent three people with non life-threatening injuries to the hospital—police reported the red truck driver was cited and released for following too closely. KFOR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Lincoln Board of Education will consider removing interim from John Skretta’s title as superintendent for Lincoln Public Schools at its board meeting Tuesday—if approved, he will be given a two-year contract at the same salary of $333,720 to avoid a costly search process. KOLN
- ➤ The USDA regulation now limits non-local food purchases in school budgets to 10% while Lincoln Public Schools and local producers work to provide meals with foods grown within 250 miles—this cap will gradually drop to 5% by 2031. KOLN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Pillen asked for a federal disaster declaration for 12 counties hit by strong storms from Aug 8-10 — the storms damaged schools, public buildings and power lines and caused more than $39 million in losses, one death and one serious injury. KNOP
- ➤ The Nebraska Supreme Court revived a lawsuit against Papillion La Vista schools over the disappearance of 11-year-old Ryan Larsen, who walked off campus in May 2021 — the case is sent back for further review. KOLN
