- ➤ Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced a volunteer diaper wrap event at the Center for People held Tuesday as Lincoln saw a large increase in diaper donations. The Nebraska Diaper Bank said it has picked up donations several times a month and will seek additional drop-off sites from local businesses—sizes five and six are still in high demand. KOLN
- ➤ A new Lincoln Vital Signs report shows that homelessness dropped by 50% for adults and by 69% for children, with numbers falling from over 670 to 334 and from 310 to 95 between 2012 and 2023. Local groups continue serving about 250 meals a day and offering support for mental health and substance use issues—emphasizing that more help is still needed. KOLN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A two-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday in Lincoln’s Havelock neighborhood when an eastbound SUV struck a northbound SUV at north 66th Street and Logan Avenue, causing the northbound vehicle to roll over and leading to one child being taken to a hospital for evaluation—tow trucks have since removed the damaged vehicles. - ➤ An 11-year-old boy was injured when he stepped into the roadway and was struck by a Ford Explorer near North First Street and West Dawes Avenue in northwest Lincoln Monday night — he suffered a left leg injury and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash at 66th and Logan in the Havelock area that occurred Tuesday shortly after noon when a speeding SUV hit a northbound vehicle—one child was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. KFOR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Public Schools named John Skretta as the permanent superintendent after he served eight months as interim — the board approved his two-year contract on Tuesday evening, and he will lead more than 7,000 staff and 42,000 students. He becomes the 23rd person to head the district, following his long career in education. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ LES announced that it received $300K from Google to pay for energy upgrades in affordable housing in Lincoln.
