GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced that several streets and the trail bridge will close this week for sewer work, asphalt overlays and repairs. Westbound Old Cheney Road will be closed from Monday until October 3 — 14th Street and Northwest 12th Street will have overlay work finishing on September 23 and 25 while the trail bridge will be fixed by September 26. - ➤ Nebraska lost its first game this season on Saturday when No. 21 Michigan beat the Huskers 30—27 at Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Dylan Raiola was sacked seven times as the Wolverines ran for 286 yards, and Nebraska held the ball for 33:17. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Nebraska forced a turnover—Elijah Jeudy recovered a fumble—and then kicked a 39-yard field goal by Kyle Cunanan that made the score 10 to 3 in their Big Ten opener against No. 21 Michigan in Lincoln. - ➤ In the first quarter of their Big Ten game Saturday in Lincoln, Bryce Underwood scored on a 37 yard quarterback draw that gave No 21 Michigan a 10 to 0 lead over Nebraska—Nebraska then looked to respond before the quarter ended. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Nebraska opened Big Ten play in Lincoln on Saturday as quarterback Raiola threw a 26 yard touchdown pass to Barney — a play that tied the game at 10 with two minutes left in the first half. Michigan answered with a 75 yard run before Raiola later connected on a 52 yard Hail Mary that made the score 17–17 at halftime. Nebraska Now
