- ➤ Thousands of children will run in the annual Haymarket Pumpkin Run this weekend plus registration is open until Sunday at $16 per participant. Parents, guardians, siblings and teachers may join the event. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ Capital Humane Society will run a 'Fall for a Friend' adoption promotion from Tuesday through Sunday, Sept. 28 — adoption fees for dogs and cats at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center will be cut by 50% while license and rabies fees may still apply. - ➤ Lincoln’s JumpStart Challenge and the 10-Hour Challenge will host a 10-hour startup event at Don't Panic Labs in the Telegraph District this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.—participants can share ideas on topics like artificial intelligence, civic tech and ag tech while winners earn prizes and coaching on Oct. 6. - ➤ Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers filed a lawsuit against Lorex on Sept. 23 for deceiving customers by marketing cameras with serious security flaws — his suit seeks civil penalties, fees, and an injunction to stop misleading safety claims. KFOR
- ➤ State Auditor Mike Foley released a 24-page report on Tuesday that found duplicate claims and other errors in state spending on applied behavioral analysis services for youths with autism. - ➤ Lincoln will pay CenterPointe up to $645K to run its first city-owned permanent supportive housing project for chronically homeless individuals at 810 J St.—the contract starts Oct. 15 and may be renewed for two additional years. - ➤ About 200 members of the Nebraska National Guard completed their final parachute jump last Friday at Husker Drop Zone north of Ashland — ending the 2nd Battalion 134th Infantry Regiment’s long tradition of airborne operations that began in 2019.
